Your credit report is one of the most important things impacting that can impact your financial life. This page is discusses your personal credit, which is different than your business credit. According to a report from Federal Trade Commission; one in four consumers’ credit reports has an error. Credit report mistakes can have dire consequences. Consumers may pay thousands of dollars more in interest over the lifetime of their loans due to errors that place them in a lower credit-rating category.

Under federal law, everyone is entitled to request a free copy of their credit report once each year from each of the major national credit bureaus Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. These three credit bureaus have set up a central website, phone number, and mailing address through which you may order your free annual credit report.

If the creditor cannot verify the accuracy of the account, late payment, balance or whatever you disputed, then they will delete that item. Removing derogatory mistakes can free your scores to go higher.  Once your report is clean, it is up to you to make sure good and accurate information is being reported.
